Annual events at the Palace of Versailles

The visit of the Castle and the park of Versailles is punctuated each season by grandiose events to approach the splendors of the time of Louis XIV.

  • The Grandes Eaux Musicales: every weekend from April 6 to October 27, 2019, April 19, May 8, May 30 and August 15, and every Tuesday from May 21 to June 25, 2019. During the Great Musical Waters, the fountains fail in music and exceptionally parts of the park usually closed are accessible to the public. At the time of Louis XIV, groves were open-air lounges hidden in the heart of the wooded areas of the garden. Practical advice and organization of the visit of the castle


  • Remember to book your tickets for the Palace of Versailles otherwise you will queue twice: a first time to take the ticket and then to enter the castle.
  • If possible, avoid weekends and Tuesday, busy days.
  • We advise you to visit the Castle from the opening at 9am. Then to go to the domain of Trianon from noon.
  • The estate of Versailles is 800 hectares so do not hesitate to take the small train to get to the domain of Marie Antoinette.


  • Start by visiting the castle (entrance A) and take the audio guide. Audioguides are included in the price of adult tickets.
  • Chained by the visit of gardens and groves, with the great musical waters in summer.
  • Head to the Grand Canal and picnic on its lawns. If you have not planned sandwiches, buy them at one of the garden restoration points, or have lunch at one of the two restaurants located north of the Canal
