A unique, fun museum that takes us to the ends of the earth

Not far from the Tour Montparnasse, Post Office Museum traces the history of the post office from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Step into the shoes of a letter carrier, sort mail or engrave stamps: the Musée de la Poste offers some great original activities (workshops, themed tours, readings) for young and old alike.

Your ticket gives you access to :
- the permanent collections, the temporary exhibition
- A multimedia guide for fun exploration
- and a game booklet (ages 7-12) pick up at reception

Exciting collections on the postal adventure

But who created the Post Office? Do letter carriers still ride bicycles? And how are stamps made?
This museum is a place of presentation and conservation where everything is done to discover the postal heritage of in a fun and friendly way
More than a million philatelic items are kept here, including stamps of the Southern Territories and antarctiques françaises
Visitors will discover 37,000 works illustrating the history of La Poste from the Middle Ages to the present day, historical documents, old letter boxes factor uniforms and even mail sorting machines
We also look at the technological revolutions that have transformed the art of communication.

Throughout the year, the museum presents its collections and organizes temporary exhibitions for the whole family. Educational workshops and tours adapted to young audiences
The Musée de la Poste was inaugurated in 1946, initially in the Hôtel Praslin in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, before moving to the boulevard de Vaugirard in the 15th arrondissement in 1973.
It was awarded the Label Architecture Contemporaine after renovation of the building and its museography, and for its original 70s architecture

Thematic workshops

Ages 6 and up - Inventive and creative art workshops, linked to the museum's current cultural events. duration 1h30 – Mandatory reservation
For teens:
- Ulrich's challenge, a Museum investigation - A certain Ulrich is planning to steal one of the museum's masterpieces. Armed with your smartphone, lead the investigation...
- Writing workshop - Using texts, stamps and inspiring images, participants create a short story around the theme proposed.

Guided tours for children

for 3-6 year olds – “Mission Postillon" - guided tour - "Where's the postilion?". Puss in Boots is devastated! With the help of the children, Puss in Boots investigates the museum to find the postillion and fulfill his mission to the king.
For the 7-10 years – “The Mystery of the Yellow Box, a visit-investigation for birthdays Panic at the Musée de la Poste! The key to the yellow letterbox has been stolen... A treasure hunt for children and FPI agents to find Dark Factor in the collections and save the Musée de la Poste!

Mail Art Workshop - Mail Art is an artistic movement that links writing to visual creation, and whose works travel by post. Parents and children create their own works. A playful and interactive approach to correspondence
Engraving workshop - The stamp is the starting point for engraving. Participants use linocuts to print their work on a press. + visit to the collections
