A free family event

Not far from the Tour Montparnasse, the time of a weekendThe Musée de La Poste is organizing two free days in family. It's the spring edition of its Family Weekend! Parents and children will be welcomed for discover the museum's collections with programming specially designed for families!

The program includes storytelling tours, letter-writing workshops, philosophy workshops and more, all at the heart of the exhibition. Two great days the history of the post office from the Middle Ages to the present day.. A vast playground for children and parents alike, where the image of stamps still inspires dreams.

Family weekend program at the Musée de La Poste

Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28, 2024

  • Saturday : 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. - for 3- to 5-year-olds: "Storytelling tour, MISSION POSTILLON". Le Chat botté (Puss in Boots) has to deliver a very important letter to the King, who lives in the port of Le Havre, by order of his master, the Marquis de Carabas. Then suddenly... Puss in Boots realizes he's lost the postilion he desperately needs to find his way home! But where could he have gone? While investigating with Puss in Boots, children wander through the permanent exhibition to save Puss in Boots from terrible punishment!
  • Saturday : 2 to 5 pm - general public - "MAIL ART AND ORIGAMI WORKSHOP continuous workshop, led by a professional. Learn how to make highly personalized postcards using a variety of creative techniques, including origami.
  • Saturday : 2:30 to 4 p.m. - From age 7: "Family visit to the permanent collections".

  • Sunday : 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. - for ages 4 to 6: "Storytelling tour, WHEN I WILL BE BIG, I WILL BE A FACTOR"Storytelling tour of the museum's collections in the guise of a puppet brought to life by a professional storyteller.
  • Sunday : 2 to 5 pm - general public - "MAIL ART AND ORIGAMI WORKSHOP continuous workshop, led by a professional. Learn how to make highly personalized postcards using a variety of creative techniques, including origami.
  • Sunday: 2:30-4pm - from 4 years old : GRAINES DE PHILOSOPHES WORKSHOP. How far can we travel?" is the question the children will try to answer through a philosophical approach.. The Musée de La Poste invites children to have fun while learning about philosophy. By discovering the museum's collections linked to the themes of adventure, travel and transport, accompanied by a mediator specially trained to run philosophical workshops, children can develop their powers of observation, analysis and reflection.

The Musée de La Poste: unique and surprising collections and exhibitions

  • The Musée de La Poste was inaugurated in 1946, initially in the Hôtel Praslin (Paris 6th arrondissement), before moving to its current address on boulevard de Vaugirard (Paris 15th arrondissement) in 1973.
  • The Museum was awarded the Contemporary Architecture Label after the complete renovation of its building and museography, and for its original 70s architecture.
  • It is a place for the presentation, conservation and dissemination of postal heritage.
  • It focuses on the written word, history and culture, and preserves unsuspected collections.
  • More than a million philatelic items are on display, including stamps from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, as well as 37,000 works illustrating the history of La Poste from the Middle Ages to the present day.
  • The great adventure of aeropostale is not forgotten! This museum is a journey around the world!
  • Contemporary art is also well represented, with works of mail art.
  • All year round, the museum presents its collections and organizes temporary exhibitions for the whole family. As well as educational workshops for young visitors.
