A free family event

Not far from the Tour Montparnasse, the time of a weekend, and the colors of ChristmasThe Musée de La Poste is organizing two free family days. Parents and children will be welcomed for discover the museum's collections with programming specially designed for families!

The program includes a storytelling tour of vacation memories, a letter-to-Santa workshop, a face-painting workshop and a Christmas show at the heart of the exhibition. Two great days the history of the post office from the Middle Ages to the present day.. A vast playground for children and parents alike, where the image of stamps still inspires dreams.

Family weekend program at the Musée de La Poste

Saturday, December 2 and 3, 2023

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. - ages 3 and up: "Storytelling tour, memories of an enchanted vacation".A stroll through the collections, where children can discover postcard images and the people who wrote them. How do you actually make an image? Poems, dances, songs and finger stories will punctuate this educational approach to images.
  • 1.45pm to 5.45pm - general public - "make-up sessions with a specialist in artistic make-up for children
  • 3 to 5 p.m. - "Un Noël en chantier" show + letter-to-Santa workshop - From age 3 (1h + 45 min): [Sold out, but try your luck on the day].

  • 14:30 to 4 p.m. - from 7 years: "Atelier la petite fabrique des cartes postales", a visit-workshop nice, fun and educational at the heart of the museum's new exhibition "Nouvelles du paradis, la carte postale de vacances" - from the perspective of the tourist postcard, their codes will no longer hold any secrets for children! Introduction to photography and image editing.
  • 4pm - 5:30pm Starting from 7 years old : Visit the permanent exhibition. And how are stamps made? Mediators will answer all the questions posed by budding messengers.

  • 14h à 16h - Tout Public - "Christmas decoration workshop" : paper Christmas decorations made by the children and ready to be sent by ... La Poste of course!

The Musée de La Poste: unique and surprising collections and exhibitions

  • The Musée de La Poste was inaugurated in 1946, initially in the Hôtel Praslin (Paris 6th arrondissement), before moving to its current address on boulevard de Vaugirard (Paris 15th arrondissement) in 1973.
  • The Museum was awarded the Contemporary Architecture Label after the complete renovation of its building and museography, and for its original 70s architecture.
  • It is a place for the presentation, conservation and dissemination of postal heritage.
  • It focuses on the written word, history and culture, and preserves unsuspected collections.
  • More than a million philatelic items are on display, including stamps from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, as well as 37,000 works illustrating the history of La Poste from the Middle Ages to the present day.
  • The great adventure of aeropostale is not forgotten! This museum is a journey around the world!
  • Contemporary art is also well represented, with works of mail art.
  • All year round, the museum presents its collections and organizes temporary exhibitions for the whole family. As well as educational workshops for young visitors.
