A great weekend to experience the Middle Ages with your family

The Musée de Cluny is organising for the first time a weekend entirely dedicated to families

From the age of 3, and at all ages, fun activities are designed so that children discover the fascinating era of the Middle Ages

On the programme: heraldic and philosophical workshops, storytelling tours, quizzes and shows… will captivate young minds while having fun

The Lady and the Unicorn, the miracles and the knights, the colors and the coats of arms will stimulate the imagination of toddlers

A whole program for a weekend immersed in the fabulous world of kings and cathedrals!

Reading and coloring

  • Saturday 27 April – From 3 years old – from 10 am to 5 pm – free activity
  • Notre-Dame Room
  • A break to colour or read, comfortably installed on colourful mats and cushions. A moment to be lived in the company of the kings of Judah.

Heroes and heroines

  • Saturday 27 April – From 8 years old – at 3.30 pm – Guided tour Duration 1h30 –
  • Meet some of the heroic figures in the museum’s collections: knights with extraordinary destinies and miracles in the museum’s collections

Storytelling tour

  • Saturday 27 at 2:15 pm and Sunday 28 April at 10:30 am – from 5 to 7 years old with family – Duration 1 hour
  • A rare moment of sharing and pleasure with an extraordinary visit full of surprises in front of the works

Funny animals

Young People Philosophize: Identity

  • The Middle Ages differently with the storyteller Carole Visconti: social discussion to debate and argue

Children Philosophize: Happiness

  • Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. – 8-12 years old (activity without parents) – Duration 1 hour
  • With the storyteller Carole Visconti, the children will lead a collective reflection in front of the works

Paper watermark (goldsmith’s workshop)

  • Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm – From 6 years old with the family
  • From the15th century, the “paperolle” made it possible to imitate the gold and silver filigrees of goldsmiths on paper. Each participant will contribute to a collective monumental decoration that will be made throughout the weekend.

Heraldic

  • Children will discover the secrets of heraldry and create their own coat of arms

Discovering the Lady and the Unicorn

Show “Mahaut, fille de bois”: with the Cie Le Carosse d’Or and Caelis together

  • Legend has it that fairies stole babies and replaced them with a simple piece of wood. With a lot of love, the stick came to life… This is where the story of Mahaut begins…

“The Middle Ages at Any Age” at the Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie

  • Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April at 2 pm – from 7 years old: storytelling tour, “A history in colour” in front of the 1113 scenes that make up the 15 stained glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle.
  • Sunday 28 April at 10:30 am – from 3 to 6 years old – workshop “Shapes and colours” – The art of stained glass explained to toddlers at the Sainte-Chapelle
  • Saturday 27 April at 10:30 am – from 3 to 6 years old – workshop “A forest of stones” while walking in the stones at the Conciergerie! Space and architecture
  • Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April at 11 am – from 7 years old (reservation required) – Meeting with a stonemason to discover this exciting profession and try your hand at cutting your own stone!
