The perfect way to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with the whole family!

The Guimet Museum has chosen this year a very spectacular program to celebrate the new year: lion dance, workshops, short films, encounters and mapping on the museum façade. Located on the Place Iéna, it is a stone's throw from du Trocadéro . Ideal activities and entertainment for the whole family lhe February vacations!

Asian communities around the world will be celebrating February 10 and the following 15 days as part of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.he Chinese New Year and the advent of wooden dragon.

Emblem of the Chinese emperors, the dragon is a powerful supernatural creature that embodies luck and prosperity. We're sure this year will be full of surprises!

Chinese New Year celebrations at the Musée Guimet :

Unique mapping on the museum's façade

  • Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February - 5.30 p.m. to midnight

At dusk, a projection in video-mapping will illuminate the museum's façade all weekend long. A fascinating dialogue between popular Chinese dragon imagery and selected works from the Musée Guimet collections. This original projection will be visible from Place Iéna until midnight!

Dragon de Chine - Chinese painting workshop

  • Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11, 10:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To your brushes! Wong Wa invites you to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the dragon by practicing Chinese painting. (Price: 140€ for both days - registration on the museum website)

Les petites frayeurs du démon Nian - Storytelling tour young audience

  • Saturday, February 10 at 2.15, 3.15 and 4.15pm

The demon Nian returns every year to frighten us on New Year's Eve ... We'll be following Justine Perrichon as she recounts the little scares of this character who isn't very serene either - (Duration: 40min - free with admission - no reservation required)

Lion dance - festive family show

  • Saturday, February 10 at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

A troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians will make the lion dance in a whirlwind of color and music. The lion dance chases away evil spirits and brings happiness and prosperity. In the purest tradition, this super-happy show is a children's favorite. (Free with admission - no reservation required)

Lunar New Year at the Musée Guimet by Banh Mi Média - projection, performance

  • Wednesday, February 21, 7 to 11 p.m.

An exceptional evening with creative collective Banh Mi, which celebrates and draws inspiration from Asian cultures. There will be screenings of short films, discussions on Lunar New Year traditions and ... un original performance combining lion dance and hip-hop! (Fee: 18€ - registration on the museum website)
