Lz zoo of Thoiry is a unique space for see animals. It is not only a classic zoo, it is also a huge space where the animals are in freedom and where you can observe them on safari, it is also a great place to visit. an amusement park with spectacular playgrounds and it's finally a castle to discover. It is recommended to plan a full day if you want to make the most of the Thoiry zoo.

THOIRY ZOO SAFARI

Thoiry Zoo is famous for its car safari. 800 animals from the 4 corners of the planet (giraffes, zebras, elephants, bears, lions...) move freely in the wide open spaces that you drive through with your vehicle.

The course is 8km and lasts between 40 and 60mn. If you don't have a car, you can borrow the bush truck for 8€ per person (in addition to the entrance ticket price).

A few rules and instructions to follow on this safari:

  • Do not open your car windows
  • Do not bring a pet
  • Do not feed the animals
 

THOIRY ZOO

The visit of Thoiry Zoo lasts about 3 hours. Among the attractions, you will be able to:
  • do glass tunnels to observe hyenas, lions and Siberian tigers...
  • discover Wild Forest (an area of 8000m2, new 2019) with its gigantic 500m2 aviary and 10 metres high (new in 2019) for the protection of the fauna and flora of temperate forests, the deer foresta family of raccoons and arctic foxes
  • do the LemurTrek Bridges that connect the lemur islands (white-fronted lemurs, black lemurs, redbellied lemurs, black and white varis, red varis).

FEEDING THE ANIMALS

You will be able to discuss and exchange with the caretakers, attend the feeding of the animals. Before leaving, please consult the schedule of events with the healers. Schedules change depending on the time of year.

GAMES AND ATTRACTIONS

LA TYROLIENNE (from 8 years old)

  • 500m of zip line above the lion enclosure and over the African plain.
  • Zip lines at a height of 20m
  • Paid activity, not included in the price of the safari ticket: tickets are sold at the foot of the zip lines.

THE SAFARI AIR PARK (for young and old)

  • 1,500 m2 of surface area of bouncing nets stretched between the trees at a height of 9 metres
  • An incredible view of the African safari plain
  • Free activityincluded in the price of the safari ticket.

GAME AREA (for children under 12 years old)

  • it's the island of mysteries, a place where children (under the supervision of parents) will be able to have fun and go tobogganing.

THE LABYRINTHE

  • the "Great challenge of the labyrinth": a participative and playful game in the middle of nature with the resolution of enigmas to get out of the labyrinth "alive".
  • unity being strength, stay together! The adventure is more fun when there are several people and it is less anxious than being alone.
  • the game lasts between 30mn and 1h
  • There is a special course for adventurous babies in strollers accompanied by their parents, of course !

THE CASTLE OF THOIRY AND THE GARDENS

  • The castle visit and of its gardens
  • It takes place weekends onlyin the afternoon from 2pm to 6pm (indicative timetables, subject to modification by its occupants)
  • The castle is still inhabited by Count Edmond de Panouse, his wife Colomba and their children. It is the 13th generation of this family to be the occupants.
  • Free Viisteincluded in the price of the safari ticket.

 

A COUPLE MORE THINGS

  • Plan the day if you want to take advantage of all the attractions (free or paying) and take the time to explore the whole area of Thoiry Zoo
  • 3 restaurants or snake (inside or with terrace) are waiting for you for lunch break: the Canteen of the explorer (every day during school holidays from 12h to 15h), the Yurt Camp (every day of opening of the ZooSafari of Thoiry, from 12h to 15h) and the Masoala (from 14h to 17h, depending on the weather and closed in winter). We advise you to check the opening days and hours before coming.
