Meet the Impressionists in virtual reality
In conjunction with the anniversary exhibitionParis 1874 - Inventing Impressionism" at the Musée d'Orsay, "Un soir avec les impressionnistes Pars 1874" is a never-before-seen virtual reality (VR) expedition.
- Through this immersive adventure, young visitors are invited to discover the colorful universe of the great masters of Impressionism.
- The experiment took place on the evening of April 15, 1874. The Impressionist painters defied all codes by exhibiting outside the official circuits, in photographer Nadar's studio.
- Once the virtual reality headset has been donned, Rose, our guide, takes us on a tour of the the vibrant Paris of the late 19th century century
- The experience is astonishing: Les Grands boulevards, Opera Garnierthe lighting and the carriages pass us by: we walk the streets of Paris!
- And what sensations when thevirtual elevator takes us to Nadar's: the artists are all there, presenting their paintings.
- From Monet to Renoir, via Degas and Cézanne, every brushstroke is magnified by technology.
- Children can approach the works and enter the captivating world of the Impressionists
- The journey doesn't stop there ... the artists are looking for sensations, lights, wind ... so head for the Gare Saint-Lazare, the guinguettes of Bougival or the cliffs of Etretat!
- This walk is enriching, moving and educational: a real encounter that will appeal to children and adults alike.
How does an immersive expedition work?
Due to the technology involved, virtual reality experiences are not recommended for pregnant women, people prone to epileptic seizures and migraines, or those with balance, vision or heart problems.
- The headphones alert you to the walls and silhouettes of other spectators: impossible to bump into!
- The 700m2 space can accommodate 100 visitors.
- If you're coming with a group, each member can be identified, so you'll recognize each other during the visit.
- For the kids? This immersive expedition is available for ages 8 and up, but is recommended for ages 11 and up.
