The Little Gallery of the Louvre

  • The Little Gallery is located in the Richelieu wing of the Louvre Museum
  • It is abouta space specially dedicated to young audiencesbut the quality of the themes and the works exhibited makes it a an exciting place for young and old alike.
  • Each year, the Little Gallery presents a different exhibition for a period of nine months. It deals with topics accessible to all ages, from 5-6 years old. 
  • At the moment, the exhibition is about the "artist's figure". This exhibition hasccompanies the cycle that the museum is devoting in 2019-2020 to the geniuses of the Renaissance
  • This place of 250m2 is the object of a very beautiful scenography: beautiful colors, simple graphics, careful lighting, simple and educational explanations
  • At the Petite Galerie, real works of art are on displayThey are not copies or second-rate pieces from the reserves. For the duration of each exhibition, the works come from the rooms of the Louvre or are borrowed from other museums.other museums

    • "Artist's figure" the exhibition currently on display at La Petite Galerie, evokes the status of the artist, his evolution and his meaning over time
    • The exhibition explores how the artist has gone from being a craftsman to a celebrated artist throughout history
    • Often anonymous in ancient times, the artist becomes recognized from the Renaissance, to the point of becoming a hero of novels or a character of legend from the 19th century.
    • About thirty paintings show the evolution of the recognition of the artists, from the appearance of signatures on the works to the self-portraits.
    • "Figure of artist" gives the opportunity to review the greatest painters: Rembrandt, Le Brun, Delacroix?

  • The museum is open at night until 9:45 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Closed on May 1st, August 15th, December 25th, January 1st
