“Andy Warhol. The line and the image”
It is in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés that the Musée du Luxembourg unveils a little-known facet of the master of Pop art
With nearly 150 drawings gathered over 40 years, colorful paintings, stamps, silkscreen prints and humorous photos, we discover the other side of Andy Warhol’s creation.
A true laboratory and common thread of the artist, Warhol’s drawing is revealed to us and presented to us as the central medium of his entire career
But who was Warhol? A journey in 5 stages
- The Advertising Beginnings: Focus on His Years as an Illustrator in New York and Fashion Stores
- Writing : Andy Warhol plays graphically with text and reproduction techniques: stamps, stencils, weft…
- Faces and genre scenes: the portrait is used by the artist and pushed to the point of caricature before transposing them onto canvases
- Gay iconography : intimate works that have long remained in the shadows
- Death: How traumatic events marked his late work
Without a doubt, this very invigorating exhibition will resonate with children. To do with the family to discover who Andy Warhol really was
