What was a highway has become the busiest pedestrian promenade in Europe in summer. The 2026 edition, under the sign of America, will take place from July 4 to August 30 on three sites: the Rives de Seine park, the Bassin de la Villette, the Canal Saint-Martin and the Parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville: with entertainment, deckchairs and supervised swimming completely free of charge.

The 25th edition of Paris Plages with a focus on the United States!

Paris Plages is deckchairs and palm trees in the heart of the capital. And this year the event will be in the colors of the United States for the 250th anniversary of American Independence. (Programme to come)

Paris Plages in the heart of the capital

Head for the Parc Rives de Seine (from the Port de Solférino to the Pont Marie), the Bassin de la Villette (quai de la Seine, quai de la Loire), the Canal Saint Martin and the Parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville (from 6 June). Every day, a variety of activities are offered , ideal for young and old alike: concerts, cinema, creative workshops, fitness, activities for children…

Paris Plages offers real seaside resorts with a water sports centre and supervised swimming areas in open water.

Swimming in the Seine 2026

A 100-year-old promise made possible thanks to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, new spots will be accessible for swimming :

  • At the Pont Louis Philippe (central Paris)
  • Au Bras de Grenelle (Paris 15th)
  • At the Quai de Bercy / Passerelle Simone-de-Beauvoir (Paris 12th)
  • New : In case of heatwave – At the Canal Saint-Martin (10th)

These swimming areas will be supervised and equipped for the public.

White sand, relaxation and sports but also entertainment, exhibition, concert and workshops to celebrate summer and America, always on the banks of the Seine, at La Villette and the Canal Saint-Martin. Paris Plages, a nice idea when it’s hot you wonder what you’re going to do in Paris this weekend and what’s more , it’s free !

Swimming is allowed in the event of a heatwave. A well-limited and supervised area allows you to enjoy a small swim to cool off between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the canal. The quality of the water is of course checked every day.

Paris Plages at the Canal Saint-Martin (10th)

  • Canal Saint-Martin, between 116 and 126 quai de Jemmapes
  • Wednesday from 12 noon to 3:30 pm and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm
  • Don’t panic, the locks are closed to boat traffic
  • Formal ban on jumping from the footbridges
  • 1 pontoon and deckchairs for idleness
  • For strolling: exhibition and concerts often improvised in this very friendly and lively corner of Paris all year round
  • Compulsory showers after swimming at the Jemmapes sports centre (with changing rooms)
  • For safety: water quality control and swimwear mandatory
  • Children under 10 years old (or 120cm) must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Pool limited to 300 people

  • The Parc Rives de Seine stretches from the Pont des Arts to the Pont de Sully with an exceptional view of the Louvre or the Musée d’Orsay to the Île Saint-Louis.
  • Deckchairs, parasols, palm trees, misters for a seaside atmosphere…
  • There are also play and relaxation areas on the banks and a variety of activities depending on the schedule: petanque and table football, Swedish gym, yoga, tai chi or introduction to salsa dance, tango, etc.
  • New ! Opening this year of an open water swimming area (supervised) at the Pont Louis Philippe (Paris Centre)
  • In this same area, it is on the nautical base that you can practice canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding and take your first boat
  • You have to stroll, stroll along the quays, enjoy the freshness of one of the many lawns, have a drink on a wooden terrace.
  • Or sit down with a book or a comic book borrowed on the spot

Paris Plages at the Bassin de la Villette

  • Paris Plages Bassin de la Villette, 40 Quai de la Seine, Paris 19th.
  • Every day from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 9 pm
  • Free water sports centre, with swimming and water sports areas: canoeing, polo, stand up paddle, pedal boats, zip line, trampoline, petanque and table football
  • A carousel ride (free) set up for children from 5 to 12 years old
  • A Kids Club with zip line for 7-17 year olds, climbing wall and educational workshops
  • Supervised sports activities : urban tennis beach-Volly in tournaments, introduction to hip-hop and in the evening: guinguette atmosphere with balls and dance evenings
  • A comic book library with manga, children’s series…
  • Paris Plage at the Bassin de la Villette is 4 pools of more than 1600m² of different depths, and 2 paddling pools (fun pools) with a depth of 0.4 m and 100 m² for accompanied children
  • Cabins, showers and toilets with free access, as well as changing rooms, lockers, deckchairs and umbrellas
  • Decent swimwear and a hat are mandatory
  • The swimming area, which is supervised, is limited to 200 people at the same time per slot, and its water is controlled
  • Refreshments, refreshments and ice cream parlours on site
  • Please note that children under 10 years old must be accompanied

Remember to take your swimming cap, it is mandatory in all swimming places, even in the Seine!

Swimming in the Seine: the 3 spots

  1. At the Pont Louis Philippe (Paris Centre), under the bridge itself. Hours: 8am-6pm
  2. Quai de Bercy (Paris 12th), located opposite the Bibliothèque nationale de France (13th), on either side of the Simone-de-Beauvoir footbridge, just below the Parc de Bercy (12th). Opening hours: 11am-9pm, every day
  3. At the Bras de Grenelle, family swimming (Paris 15th), facing the Île aux Cygnes (7th) and the Statue of Liberty, a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower (7th). Opening hours: 10am-5:30pm (4:45pm on Saturdays)
