Extraordinary Journey to the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution: Storytelling Guided Tour

Visiting the Grand Gallery with children: our favourites

  • We love the big parade that we discover when we arrive, with all its life-size animals
  • The scenography is very successful with sound and light shows
  • Child-shaped labels that bring scientific insight to the youngest
  • The room dedicated to extinct or endangered animals (to do with the older ones)

A must-see place with children

The Galerie de l’Évolution is a huge hall surrounded by three balconies lit by a 1,000 m² glass roof.

It is home to 7000 specimens from the terrestrial and aquatic worlds. They don’t talk anymore but tell us a lot!

The children will discover 350 mammals, 450 birds, 360 fish and a hundred stuffed reptiles and amphibians.

You can see rare and impressive pieces such as the rhinoceros from the menagerie of the Palace of Versailles, which belonged to Louis XV and then to Louis XVI.

The Grande Galerie de l’évolution is located in the Jardin des Plante.

🌳 Things to do in the Jardin des Plantes

To eat in the neighborhood

The Folia restaurant : (formerly Les Belles Plantes): ideal with children (children’s menu, terrace when the weather is nice). And it’s open on Sundays!

And also, the unmissable Café Maure of the Mosque of Paris, for its oriental pastries and its exotic setting.
