Paris in an electric scooter: the rules to follow

WHAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ACT REQUIRES

A law should normally come into force in the fall of 2019 to regulate the use of electric scooters in Paris. The increasing number of users of electric scooters and other PDEDs (motorized personal movement devices), the increasing number of accidents and permanent incivilities compel the government to take action. This law could provide:

THE ROAD CODE FOR ELECTRIC TROTTILES

• Respect fires and stop
• The maximum speed allowed is 25km / h
• It will be necessary to equip your electric scooter with a horn
• You will need to wear a nice retroreflective vest at night or if visibility is low
• Forbidden to park them on sidewalks

• Sidewalks are prohibited to electric scooters since January 2019

CHILDREN AND ELECTRIC TROTTINETTES

• The required age to drive an electric scooter is 8 years old
• Children are not allowed to ride on an adult's scooter
• Helmets are mandatory for children under 12 years old (as for the bike)

IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT THE LAW

• A fine of 135 € if you ride on the sidewalks
• A fine of 35 € for non-compliance with the law
• A fine of 1500 € if the speed exceeds 25km / h
