Gabrielle Chanel exhibition at the Palais Galliera

The Gabrielle Chanel, fashion manifesto exhibition

  • It is the 1st retrospective in Paris of the "great couturier" Gabrielle Chanel that will revolutionize the world of sewing
  • This exhibition is an invitation to discover a universe and a timeless style including 350 pieces, some of which are from private collections
  • She presents the beginnings of "Coco" Chanel with some emblematic pieces including the famous jersey sailor from 1916. She invites you to follow the evolution of Chanel?s style with its chic allure, its little black dresses and its sporty models from the Roaring Twenties to the sophisticated dresses of the 30s. It evokes the war, the closure of the fashion house (only remains in Paris at 31, rue Cambon the sale of perfumes and accessories)
  • The second part of the exhibition invites to decipher its dress codes : tweed suit, two-tone pumps, quilted 2.55 bag, black and beige colors of course, but also red, white and gold? without forgetting the costume jewelry and high jewelry essential to the Chanel silhouette
  • A room is dedicated to the N°?5 created in 1921
  • Ten photographic portraits of Gabrielle Chanel punctuate the scenography and affirm the extent to which the fashion designer embodied her brand
